Thanks to technology like this, which allows citizens to blog & tweet from their mobile phone, traditional media (as seen in picture) is becoming less relevant. Please discuss?

Not quite.

For people like us who do blog and participate in social media beyond facebook it can sometimes seem that way, but it stands that traditional newspapers still have huge readership (even though diminishing).

And it’s easy to predict that this will continue to diminish and as more digital oriented generations grow older. But there is still and always will be a place for tangible media, media you can touch, carry and physically share with other human beings.

And as readership continues to diminish and traditional publishers are further prodded to innovate they will. We should see more targeted content and advertising, the things that hold true online will hold true offline, and a consumer will be able to tailor their content and the ads included. Google is already talking about this – micro-geo-locational ads in newspapers. Other online based companies are offering customizable printed hard-copy travel guides which compile content available for free online but scattered across the www.

However, if you include TV as “traditional” then that’s a whole other discussion :-)
