Media Hunter v2.03Oct08
Welcome to the new and improved Media Hunter.
I launched the Media Hunter in April 2007 after meeting with Gavin Heaton and having an in-depth discussion on social media, blogging and the future of marketing. Inspired by his efforts with Servant of Chaos, I decided to create a site dedicated to the industry I work in and region I live in. Hence Media Hunter.
The site has evolved greatly in the 18 months of its existence to the point that it now has a much broader appeal and subject matter. While I still cover Newcastle and Hunter Valley media news and views, I have become increasingly interested in national and international media and advertising trends, with a view to how they might affect my own market.
Social and digital media have become much more prominent in Media Hunter content too, reflecting my own agency’s attitudes and the growing influence these options are having on the way businesses market themselves.
As the site has evolved it has also grown a significant audience and national and international recognition. AdAge in the USA now ranks media and marketing sites around the World in its Power 150 and Media Hunter has been ranked from the day this list was launched (although my ranking will suffer for a while due to the change of format and loss of links).
Here in Australia social media evangelist Julian Cole launched the Top 50 Australian Marketing Pioneer blogs rankings, which was subsequently featured in Marketing Magazine in their August 2008 issue. Once again I was proud that Media Hunter featured prominently.
So today we launch the new Media Hunter site. We have moved it from Typepad to WordPress, changed the look and layout and rationalised the content and categories to reflect the future of the site.
Going forward I intend the site to offer less of the media-roundup of the previous site, and more commentary and debate on various aspect of traditional, digital and social media.
Twitter now features prominently on the site as this form of micro-blogging has become invaluable to me and my business. Consider it another stream of conversation and debate that I invite you to join. Its a lively and very dynamic forum. It can also be a great source of information and even new business.
Finally, another request to ensure that your links and feeds for Media Hunter are correct. If you have linked to the site previously, please change for the old Typepad address to the new mediahunter.com.au address. If you really like the site and its content, please subscribe to my RSS feed and tell your friends. And if you have anything you’d like to say, positive or otherwise, I encourage you to comment to any of my posts.
