Australian marketing bloggers cutting it on world stage13Jan09
Its been a while since I have looked at the AdAge rankings. Since it launched around 18 months ago, the AdAge Power 150 has been one of the best lists of marketing and media bloggers in the world. It has introduced me to some great online talent and been the source of some sensational information. In short, you could do worse than spend a little time getting acquainted with some of the names on this list.
What has been noticeable to me is the number of Australian based blogs that have clawed their way up the Power 150 in the last year. Considering the size of Australia (22 million) and geographic distance from the rest of the world, Australian bloggers have managed to be noticed in numbers. I guess that’s the beauty of the internet and the way social media makes networking and communication so easy.
So I thought I would take the time to introduce you to the Aussies making blogging waves around the world as per their current AdAge 150 Rank. These rankings change weekly so the numbers might be different when you check, but the quality speaks for itself.

HI Craig
Nice to see all the Aussies in one list again – Think I will do a list of all the list of Aussie marketing bloggers shortly
Just a small point, Laurel’s Blog has been around 130-140 on ad age all year, since she has shifted her blog across it has dropped while the ‘goog/technor/alex’ all pick up again. Thought it was worth a mention.
Cheers Gary

Moving blogs can severely damage your rankings. Happened to me last year and I am still recovering. Laurel will rise back to her rightful and lofty ranking soon enough I am sure.
Great list. Btw, “This ain’t no disco” is the work of Ian McCallam (http://www.ianmccallam.com/) who is originally from the UK but now lives and works in Australia.
That I continue to rank so well at AdAge still baffles me. I just can’t fully reconcile that my stuff is marketing.
I’m a corporate blog? Where corporate = company of one person, right?
Trib
I guess by corporate I meant company site.
Re: your Power 150 Ranking, you or someone must have put acidlabs forward for inclusion initially. Adage doesn’t rank them based on content, only on measurables like Technorati and Google page ranks.
I think I read “corporate” in the pejorative sense.
It’s like acidlabs as a company blog… it just started as my personal blog and has morphed over time.
If there’s ever a time that acidlabs is more than one person, I have no idea what I’ll do with it.
[...] How Australia’s marketing bloggers are ranking on the world stage. [...]
Thanks for the Australian list Craig. The Power150 list is certainly helpful for networking and just a little bit of rivalry.
At the moment AdAge’s Yahoo Inbound Links API isn’t working. I noticed that we had been stuck on 1 out of 30 since submitting The Inspiration Room in September. When the guys at AdAge checked manually it jumped up to 15, moving us from 274 as above to 137! Charlie Moran says they’re working on it and that they’ll manually adjust scores for those who ask with an email.
Your kind words have given me an erection. ;]
Zac, you need to visit different sites more often (or less).
Hi Craig, thanks for keeping track of this and getting the word out! Haven’t been to your blog for a while (normally read posts in a reader). Must say, it looks very spiffy!
David
These rankings are a travesty!!! I can’t believe they’re allowed to get away with this!!! Who can I sue???
