Has Twitter gone mainstream?13Feb09
From humble beginnings only three years ago the short messaging, social networking service known as Twitter has exploded onto the Internet to become one of the hottest online applications. Originally the love child of tech geeks, it initially took off at South By South West Interactive Festival, Twitter may have just gone mainstream judging by the amount of traditional media coverage it has recently attracted.
The New Year has seen a myriad of Twitter stories in the mainstream media and an explosion of users.

How to get a job in the advertising, design or media industry in 20093Feb09
I receive on average 4 to 5 job applications per week, every week of the year.
- 90% come via email.
- About 70% are actually addressed to me (rather than Dear Sir/Madam).
- Over 90% seem to be carbon copies of the same resume format, with the same information / qualifications.
- 99.5% get placed in an email file for future reference.
Funny thing is, despite having a growing agency and hiring numerous staff over the last few years…only one of these people has even gotten an interview.
Why?

Seven claims Summer TV ratings2Feb09
Source: Mumbrella
Network Seven has claimed a summer season ratings victory – but TV buyers looking for data on yesterday’s programming will be disappointed after technical problems mean no figures are available today.
Seven today issued its analysis of the period from week 49 last year through to week five of this year. And it won in all of the main age demographics in prime time (6-10.30pm) too.
In the All People category, Seven took a 38.4% share, compared to Nine’s 34.9% and Ten’s 26.7%.
In 18-49, Seven took 36.2%; Nine took 34.1% and Ten got 32.9%.
Among 25-54s, Seven gained 36.9%, Nine took 35.3% and Ten took 27.8%.
But the most impressive improvement for Seven was in 16-39s, where it went from third place 12 months ago, to first place this time round. Seven got 35.1% (compared to 31.4% a year ago); Nine took 32.4% (compared to 31.7%) and Ten slumped to 32.5% (from 36.9%).
But programmers keen to see how audiences fared last night as they gear up for the official ratings season, were disappointed this morning, after technical problems left OzTam unable to supply any data.
A spokesman for industry ratings body OzTam told Mumbrella: “Due to a problem in polling, we don’t expect to be able to issue any data until tomorrow.”
